Carb jetting basics (2-stroke quick guide)

Jetting is everything on a 2-stroke. Start rich, get it clean and safe, then tune down.

Main jet controls WOT, pilot/air screw controls idle to low throttle, needle/clip controls midrange.

Air leaks and float height problems will make you chase your tail — fix those first.

  • Lean signs: surging, hanging idle, hot/white plug, detonation risk.
  • Rich signs: burble/blubber, lazy response, wet/black plug.
  • Change one thing at a time.
  • Weather and elevation change jetting needs.
