No-spark diagnosis (fast path)
If you have zero spark, don’t shotgun parts. Isolate the system in a clean order.
These steps apply to most off-road singles (Blaster / Tri-Moto / Tri-Z / Tecate 3).
- Disable kill switch circuit temporarily (test-only).
- Use a known-good plug and confirm good grounding to the head.
- Check coil primary/secondary continuity and connector condition.
- Measure stator exciter and pickup (manual specs).
- Inspect flywheel key and flywheel torque (signal can disappear if it slips).
Quick note
If spark appears when you disconnect the kill circuit, the CDI is usually fine — your problem is in the switch/wiring.
